2019/20 Premier League season

It doesn’t seem all that long since the last season came to an end. The wait is nearly over for the 2019/20 Premier League season to begin. Fans up and down the country will be counting down the days to Friday August 9 when Liverpool kick off the season with a home game against Norwich City. The next nine months promise to be another exciting season but what should we be looking forward to most.
The Battle at the Top
Last season saw a titanic battle for the title between Manchester City and Liverpool. The pair drew a massive 25 points clear of the rest of the league winning between them 62 of their 76 games and scoring 184 goals. City are chasing a third straight Premier League title and it’ll be fascinating to see if Liverpool or anyone else can prevent them doing just that. Think you know who will come out on top? Liverpool of course are now European Champions but have a hectic season ahead of them. They have the World Club Championship to take part in at the end of the year. Manchester City meanwhile continue to strengthen their squad and are worthy favourites for the title.
The Chasing Pack
Chelsea finished third last season and won the Europa League. The new season begins with Frank Lampard in as manager, Eden Hazard departed to Real Madrid and a transfer ban in place. It could be a season of transition with younger players given the chance to shine.
Tottenham have actually signed some players this summer but need to seriously cut down the number of games they lose. 13 were lose in the Premier League last season, they won’t win anything with that kind of record.
Arsenal and Manchester United are both trying to get back into the Champions League. The Gunners have shocked their fans by signing Pepe for a record £72m. Dani Ceballos has also arrived at the Emirates so a bold bid will be made for a top four finish.
Manchester United need to improve this season but their transfer dealings have been chaotic. The signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka will help their dodgy defence but can they add Harry Maguire to the team? With question marks over Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba, just what the starting line-up will be for their opening game against Chelsea remains a mystery worthy of Agatha Christie.
What will Villa Do?
While newly promoted Sheffield United and Norwich City could both well make an immediate return to the Championship, how Aston Villa get on is going to be fascinating. They’ve already spent over £130m this summer so could they do as well as Wolves did last season?
Southern Woes
Who else is in relegation trouble? Brighton and Hove Albion struggled last season and could well end up in the bottom three. Southampton have had problems for a couple of seasons now, another relegation battle looks likely in what is going to be another enthralling Premier League season.
